The beef market is firmed, but the mutton and lamp market shows signs, of weakness owing to quicker discharge at docks, and to good supply of Scotch lamb, which is selling at an average price of Is 4d per lb. Quotations are: New Zealand mutton, light-weight Bld heavy-weight 6J(I, ewes 5d to 5Jd 1101l 101 lb; New Zealand lamb, light-weight Is ] I’d. heavy-weight 1 Tel per lb. The Government "ex store” t prices are—New Zealand, first and soe- - end grade 262 s per (2s 4d per lb): Ans- - tralinn, first grade salted. 215 s per - ewt (2s 2]cl per lb); first and second . grade 242 s per cwt (2s l:]d per lb); uiistalfod 247 s per cewt (2s 2sd per lh); : Argentine, salted and unsalt-ed, not sorted to mark 225 s per ewt (2s per lb). CHEESE. The market is firmer for English, k which remains in small supply. Finest r farmers’ 160 s to 165 s per ewt (Is s',d - to Is s>d per lb); Canadian, whits L in good demand at- 134 s to 138 s per ewt. coloured 132 s to 136 per cwt: “ New Zealand, white 1365. to 140 s per - ewt., coloured 132 s to 1.36 s per ewt ; Australian, white 120 s to 130 s per cwt-, - coloured 120 s. to 130 s per cwt. CASEIN. The market is unchanged: French ? rennet' CIO. Argentine lactic £SO per toil. 1 HEMP. Tho Manila market is quiet and steady: “J” grade, August-October shipment, sold at £3B 10s l>er ton. June-August and July-Septembcr shipP merits are quoted at the same price. The New Zealand market is steady, but business is restricted on account of the high price asked in the Dominion. Quotations are unchanged. Probable
jnyors of “high points” at about £36 lOs; fair £34 per ton. WOOL. At Bradford a better tone is reported though there is very little new business Manufacturers are still unable to clear their high-priced stocks. Present quotations for tops are; (IPs (merino), 36d; 56’s (super half-bred) 2-xl; 10’s prepared (coarse cross-bred) 12d per lb. HONEY. There is an improved tone for escaper binds. The New Zealand market A quiet and nominally unchanged.
