Following the late trouble in the Northern Territory which resulted in certain Government officials leaving li e Territory, the Federal Government sought to terminate Judge Revan’s appointment. Judge Levan, however, claimed he had remained a judge and he instituted legal proceedings against the Federal Government. It is now announced that Ids action has been discontinued under an agreement, l»y which the Government pays Mr Hevun £2700 compensation and legal expenses. .Mr Hevan also resigns his judicial office. LICENSING REKO : v SYDNEY, Aug. 18 The Government proposes to introduce mi amending Liquor Bill in the coming session, providing tor the sale of liquoi in hotels until eight o’clock if served with a meal. The present license fee system is to be abolished, and, in ils stead, a charge will he imposed, based on a percentage of the turnover. The wedding took place at Holy Trinity Church, Greymouth, yesterday morning, of Mr Jack Russell, youngest son of Mr R. Russell, Greymouth, and .Miss D. Herring, daughter of Air R. Herring, of Hokitika. Miss Gladys Herring was bridesmaid, and Mr A. Jackson 1 cst man. Yen Archdeacon Carr performed the ceremony. The wedding party were subsequently entertained at the residence of the bride’s aunt at Blakeiown. The happy couple left in the evening for the south on their honeymoon, carrying with them the best wishes of a host of friends fot their future happiness and prosperity.
