The first match showed that Peach was the sii]>erior court craftsman, and bis placements were superior. Togner’s ground strokes were very poor. Poach played a back court game throughout the match. The first set started with a battle of services, hut the Australian finally broke through. Tegner tired in the next set, and Peach had an easy time. 'Pbe Dane staged a brief recovery in the last set, buL Peach’s back court and placement work was too much for him. Anderson was too fast for Engersle.v in the second match, in which youth conquered. Anderson otitstrnked and outplaced the veteran Dam 1 , whose foot work was extremely slow. Engersley’s recovery in the last set was remarkable.
