UrSTItAI/lAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. NEWSPAPER COMMENT. LONDON. Aug. 15 Under the heading, “An Unenglisb Crowd,’’ the “Times” condemns the Oval outburst of studied insults hurled at the Australians in tlieii dressing room. It is particularly regrettable in the presence of the Philadelphian team in the pavilion, giving a false impression of the spirit in which tests are p!a\cd in England. The “'rimes” says that a certain proportion ol cricket lollowers lake an ungenerous view ol i Armstrong’s Captaincy, and small noisy hands of hooligans are laying themselves nut to insult him at every opportunity. “There is also a feeling among many I that tlie Australian crowds treated the | English eleven .rather unkindly last I w inter, hut Saturday’s behaviour at the i Oral was without excuse.’ I LONDON, Aug. 14. The newspapers strongly comment on the disorderly conduct shown at the Oval, particularly when Tennyson had tn hat e a police escort while inspecting the wi-het.
