AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. GABLE ASSOCIATIONMURRAY BEATS RUTHERFORD. DUNEDIN, Aug. 12. The 15-rot 11 id professional lightweight boxing contest- between Mick Rutherford (N.S.W.) aud Less Murray (Dunedin) "as fought at llis MajesIj'k Theatre to-night lielore a capacity house. The contest only lasted 9 rounds, Rutherford being unable to c ontinue further. The local man was aggressive from the start, the visitor having to box on the retreat, and the points of each round were secured by Mum ay "hose short jolts gradually wore his opjKment down. At the end-of the nintli round, Rutherford’s seconds threw in tho towel.
