AUSTRALIAN AND N. 7.. CABLE ASSOCIATION. LEAD PE OF NATIONS. TO DECIDE SILESIAN QUESTION. (Received This Day at 9.40 a.n PARIS, August 12. Cabinet, under M Milleriintl’s presidency, assembled prior to the meeting of the Supreme Council, and unanimously approved of M. Briand’s attitude. When the Council met later, after a brief sitting, a communicate was issued stating .that as England,, Italy and .Japan are opposed to the French proposals, all agreed to refer the problem to the League of Nations. It is unofficially reported that M. Briand suggested the question be referred to America. * Hon. Lloyd George proposed the reference to the League of Nation and the vote was unanimous. Tire Council decided tlifit a. onmmitfsion of three should return to O poln and also appeal to Germany and Poland to preserve order. Hon. Lloyd George’s last words . he was leaving for London were *' l knew well everything would be alright.” M. Briand smiling replied ‘‘How could it be otherwise.” Mr Lloyd George said with reference to League of Nations that there was not a disagreement between Britain and France, nor a reflection on the French Government or its experts. Tt was important to say that Japan and Italy took the same line as Britain The difficulties were not due to the problem itself, but to the excited state of public opinion. There it was right to seek another tribunal Although a majority of the Council take one view, France alone taking the other, Great Britain would accept the (League decision without demur, and if necessary strengthen the Allied force's in Silesian. Britain would make a contribution on the same scale as any other Power, M. Briand said France would accept the decision without demur, and suggested the jurists draff, the reference to the League
