GENERAL HAIG’S APPEAL. (Received This Day at 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 4. General Haig, on tile seventh mini versary of the war, appeals to the nation not to forget the debt to the men who .stood between it and disaster. Over a million ex-service men are still unemployed. They, with their families, are suffering acute privations. fe. THE RIGA TRAIN ACCIDENT. (Received This Day at 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 4. Information received in London confirms that Paul Freeman was killed in the Riga-Moscow railway accident. The cause of the accident is unknown. The party were travelling in an aero train, a new invention, consisting of ft light carriage with a tractor propeller in the front. The inventor was among those killed. REIGN OF TERROR. (Received This Day at 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 4. The Kemalists have established, a reign of terror in the Trebizond region, rounding up Greek subjects and putting them to death. Twenty-seven Britishers, including Colonel Rawlinson and Captain Campbell, are still retained as prisoners. Their present whereabouts are unknown.
