The twenty-second annual report of the Kokatahi Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd., is as follows: “For the season just ended tho Com. pany has received from its suppliers 708,8921bs of cream, from which ive have obtained 264.8961bs of butter-fat, from which has been made 315,61 Bibs of commercial butter, being 140 tons 18 cwt, an increase of 3 tons Bewt for the season.
“ For vour consideration and approval we now place the twenty-second annual report and balance before you. Despite the normally had spring and the consequent loss of butter fat we take the pleasure of reporting a. very large increase in the season’s output, indeed we have established a record in the history of your Company, and hope in the very near future to double this amount.
“The Imperial Government again found it necessary to commandeer the whole of the Dominion’s surplus butter and therefore 105 tens lGewt was sold to the Imperial Government at the price of 280 s per cwt f.0.b., Wellington, for the period ending March 31st, 1921, with a promise of an open market after that date: hut that promise could not be fulfilled owing to the butter soaring so high to the consumer, therefore the Government called a conference of representatives of Dairy Producers from the North and South Island, and agreed that the price would he Is 11 Jd bulk at. the factory door with a subsidy of two pence per lb., and an open market at the end of August. “ The balance of your butter was sold In local stores and others. • You will note that during the season we made a. further payment of Id po, |l, on last season’s butter fat, amounting to L 790 18s. making the total payment for butter fat for 191926 season, of Is 3d per lb., wo also paid 2d bonus on September and Juno butter fat. also 5 per cent on all supplying shares. “ Wo have again experienced a great deal of trouble in getting our butter away to tho Wellington Cool Store through the irregularity of shipping, and also strikes. But w ( > hope' in the near future that that trouble will lie a thing of the past, ns we expect that part of our next season’s output will be consigned direct by rail to the Lyttelton Cool Store, which will enable oiir Company to get a much higher grade butter, which is most essential to the Company at the present moment.
“We must again congratulate our manager for the very high quality of butter that he has manufactured during the past season, and also for the high grade that- he has obtained. “The retiring directors this year, under the Articles of Association, are Messrs I). Clark, J. Monk and C. Marshall. The retiring auditor is Mr R. Wild. All these gentlemen are eligible for re-election.”
