The adjourned meeting of the Council was resumed at 8 p.m. Present: Messrs G. A. Perry (Mayor), Coulson, Wood, King, Lloyd, Park-hill, McGregor, Perliani.
Apologies were made for Messrs Blank and Pilkingtou.

From Commissioner ot Taxes, asking for returns. —Received. From J. C. Macfarlane, complaining of state of Eitzhorbert Street in front of his residence.—Received; referred to Public Works Committee to attend to. From Town Clerk, Kiimara, asking particulars of cost of recent borough election. —Received aiul supplied. From IV. Linklater, complaining of neglected condition of upper Reveil Street and drain running through his property.- —Received; referred to 1 uDlic Works Committee to enquire into. j
From Department of Public Health, in connection with cost of inspection of health officer. Received; Town Cloik to reply. From Adrian Robinson, asking for repairs to drain passing under his property and offering to do work if hew timber were supplied.-Received alid agreed to. From Hospital Bail Committee, asking for use of Town Hall for bftll. Received and request granted. From J. Drake, agreeing to dismantle Royal George licxl week.—Received; aetioii to be taken il imt carried out promptly. From South Island Motors Unhid, inviting attendance at conference oil 4th August at Christchurch. Reeeircd. From Manager, Bank of New Zealand, notifying increased charge of interest on overdraft would not he dunged till Aug Ist.— Received. REPORTS.
From Treasurer, reporting receipts POO 10s 2d, payments LI4M 2s, debit balance £384 11s. —-Received. From Finance Committee, recommending payment of accounts amounting to L‘4l9 lMs lid and that electric light he installed iii tho Free Public Library.—Received and adopted. Mr Wood moved that the giving of attention to the water supply he earned out at once till the leakage is discovered and remedied. He considered this the most important work requiring attention. —Seconded by tho Mayor and eairied. The Council rose at 8.20 p.m.
