Collins and Andrews faced Louden and Dixon. Despite good ground fielding runs came rapidly till Collins played too late lit a long hop from Louden. He bad occupied the crease for 148 minutes and hit one six luid fifteen fours.
When 45, Andrews gave Gilligan :in opportunity of stumping that was not accepted. Almost immediately Mayne also escaped. He should have been caught from a skier. Franklin was the h a ler on each occasion. Both found Louden difficult, Andrews at- 59 playing him on to the wicket, lie hit g-ix lours. 4 for 278,
Alter Mayne and Ryder were disposed of Gregory .and Pellew commenced a bright partnership which added 90. After lunch the attendance increased to llnee thousand. There was remarkable scoring at Blaeklicatb. Kent made 464 for nine wickets and declared (Hardinge 207). Surrey compiled 448, of which Shepherd made 219 not out. This is his second successive double century. Hitch made 10(5. Kent, in their second innings, made 244 for three wickets. The match was drawn.
