BLACKBALL MINE.
ALb MINERS PAID OFF. GREYMOUTH, July 27
Word reached town yesterday mat all the employees at the Blackball mine hpve been paid off, except the pumpmen and a few engine men.. The miners have been idle all ths week. No reliable information as to the cause of the company’s action is available as yet. It seems mosit peculiar on the face of it. All sorts of wild iumours are current, but it is bard to say what foundation they have. It is worth recalling that at piesent the mine owners are generally seeking local agreements with the par ticulflv unions, thereby hoping to g p t rid of the principle of a Notional Agreement.
