PARTICULARS OF DAMAGE, i Received This Day at 10.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, Jnlv 25 O 1 Floods in the northern districts fol'lnwed a cyclonic storm which did severe damage to property. Six inches of rain fell in a few hours. The rivers rose with unexpected rapidity, breaking the hanks and swept into the townships mentioned, late at night. The main streets were deeply flooded and in many shops and resiliences the water was leet deep. People caught napping made their exit with difficulty in the darkness. Many places were completely surrounded and the inmates were taken out by rescue boats. At Miirwillnmhah, a ha by was washed from its escaping mother’s arms and was drowned. A man was drowned 1,.v an overturning boat. Wide areas along the rivers me inundated anil widespread damage. It is feared that other lives are lost, but until the waters subside it is impossible to ascertain the full extent of the damage.
