ROSS BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting of the Ross Borough Council took place on Wednesday evening. Present—Hiss Worship the Mayor (S. P. Evans Esq.), Councillors A. W. Upjohn, H McMulhin, G. Black, D. Roberts and Jas. Thomson.

The minutes of the previous meet ing were read and confirmed and the outward correspondence was read and approved.

INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From S. Brown Ltd., Wellington quoting for Australian Hardwoods.— Received.

From Clerk, Westland County Council suggesting a meeting of representatives of local bodies concerned be held at Hokitika on 29th. inst. to consider what steps should be taken in connection with Greynvinth Harbour Board legislation.—Received and suggestions approved of, the Mayor to represent tbe Council.

From Treasury notifying half year’s interest on water loan would be due at the end of month.— and passed for payment.

From Receiver of Goldfields’ Revenue supplying statement of receipts and arrears for half year ending 30th. June.—Received.

Or. Thomson pursuant to notice of motion moved that the Town Clerk’s salary be increased by £2O oer annum Seconded by Cr. McMullan and earned.

Cr Upjohn apologised for the absence of Cr Minelian (Oh Public Works) and on bis behalf reported on work done since last meeting.—Received and approved Specifications in connection with the lease of several reserves were read and approved and tenders opened ns follows :

Freehold Section No 1565 (6 acres) 5 years lease. M. Nolan £4/5/6 per year. G. Mason £3 per year,. Tho tender of M. Nolan was accepted.

One years - lease of Recreation Ground (2 acres), H. McMu'dnn £6/2/6 O. Hahn £5/10/-: G. Chalmers £6, A. Simpson £4 HO/-. The tender of H, MeMullnn was accepted. One years lease of 11 acres adjoining Recreation Ground—H. MeMullnn £ 3/2/6. .T. J. A Meson £3, A. Simpson £2/5/-. . The tender of H. MeMullnn was accepted. ' The meeting then terminated.
