[hv TELE^BAI’IJ —PER PRESS ASSOCIATION] GAOL INMATE CHARGED. AUCKLAND, July 21 As a sequel to the discovery of the charred body of a newly-born male in the furnace at Mount Eden Gaol, Flora Ellen Waite, aged 31, an inmate of the prison, was charged with having disposed of the body of her child with intent to conceal the fact of birth. The accused is ill, and the case was adjourned till Wednesday.
HYDRO-ELECTRIC SCHEME. WELLINGTON, July 19
Mr A. W. Rodger, chairman of the Southland Electric Power Board, returned from England oil the Tahiti. He had been to the Mother Country with a view to getting capital and arranging about machinery in connection with the hydro-electric scheme lor the Southland district.
There has been such a change in >he liiiancial position since Mr Rodger left for England that he prefers to say nothing about the present position in regard lo arrangements made until he lias had a conference with his hoard. However, lie is able to state that, there will he no difficulty in getting the necessary c-api tn 1 and the necessary machinery in England. It is mainly a question of the price that would have to he paid under present circumstances.
arch hill murder. AUCKLAND, July 21. A reward of £250 is now offered by the Police for evidence leading to the conviction of the Arch Hill murderer. The detectives are unable to trace the young man, Jew’s movements on the Saturday evening he was killed.
