One of the worst droughts in the history of the State has ended with heavy rain and gales between two and three inches of rain falling, flooding a large area and causing extensive damage. A dam at Swansea mine, Zeehan was swept away. The main street was inundated. At Bridport, a small schooner was blown aslioro from her nioorins undamaged.
REIGN OF TERROR
FITZROY .MOBS AGAIN
SYDNEY, July 19
After a break of two-years there Iras been a repetition of cases of shooting which caused a reign of terror in Fitzrov in 1919.
A mob gathered in front of a house at which they fired fourteen revolver shots. The police were quickly on the scene and found only two men with revolvers in their hands. They were sm rounded and arrested and charged with attempted murder. It is stated that the other gunmen decamped on hearing the liens ol the approach ol the police.

The Licenses Deduction Board ordered the closing of sixteen hotels in the Bathurst electorate, including nine out of *25 in the town.

A deputation asked Mr McTicrmnn (Attorney-General) that Government recoup Doctor Thompson who incurred an expenditure exceeding £7OO sterling in his efforts to secure the release of Mrs Farr. The Minister replied that Airs Farr was a wealthy woman with an estate worth £13,000. Her obvious course was to reimburse Thompson for the costs incurred on her behalf.
