AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. HEAT WAVE CONTINUES. (Received This Day at 9.40 a.m.) LONDON, July 19. A renewed heat caused a disastrous fire at Hendon factory, where an aeroplane varnish is manufactured. The workers knowing the certainty of an explosion, fled and just had time to escape when the place was blown up, the flames rising one hundred feet high. Tho damage is twenty thousand. '['hero are gorse and heather fires all over the county, including Barnes common, where the Fire Brigade has been working since Saturday. There are extensive heath fires nt Cannock Chase and they have invaded the colliery districts, where smoke penetrated tho pits seriously interrupting the mines. London water supply is seriously threatened, and the city will he rationed, if conditions continue.

A PRISON RIOT. (Received Tins Day at 9.40 a.m.) NEW YORK, July 18

A Pittsburg telegram states this morning a thousand prisoners in the

Western Penitentary, Pennsylvania, rioted and attempted to escape. A fire of incendiary’ origin raged in twelve small buildings in the interior. Ihe main bidding was wrecked, fourteen prioners and fourteen guards and firemen were seriously injured. Many, it is believed will die. The prisoners were dissatisfied with their treatment. The men demanded cigarettes and women powder and rouge and declared they had received these in other prisons from which they were removed to the penitentiary.

POLO I’ONY DEAD. (Received This Dav at 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, July 19. Milburn’s famous polo pony, Tenby died while returning to America.
