MR MASSEY.
lUHTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. LONDON, July IG. At the Empire Producers’ Association luncheon, tendered him, Mr Massey declared that Empire preference was “morje needed than evetr, now that Britain is a debtor country'.” He believed that wool prices would recover in n few years. Eight countries now had 189 milfoil sheep, as compared with 351 million a decade ago. Thus demand for the wool would soon overtake the supply.
Mr Massey speaking at the recent luncheon given to him by fho Empire Producers’ Association, referred to the new problem New Zealand had to face in having boon entru'sted with the mandate over Samoa. Ho instanced that success attended the giving to the Maoris of the franchise. New Zealand would do exactly the same in the case of the Samoans as in that ot the Maoris.
Mr Massey, speaking at he Producers’ Association luncheon to him su'd that lie hoped the coming Disarmament Conference organised bv America would succeed; but asserted that nevertheless the. British Navy must he second none. This was in order to secure’ the safety of the Empire.
