Trotting Conference.
[ijy TEL EG RAIMI —PER PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON. July 13. At the Trotting Conference yesterday it was decided to add the following new rule, which will be known as 153 A “The owner of a registered trotting horse shall within fourteen days of the death of such horse, notify the Association thereof, and any owner failing to do so shall be liable to penalties prescribed in the rule for not notifying the sale of a horse.”
An amendment to Rule 22 Mas made in the direction of prohibiting clubs from issuing licenses to ride to persons under the age of 16 years, and licenses to drive to persons under the ago of 18 years
The question of renomination was discussed and on the motion of Air E. Fox (Metropolitan), seconded by Air Wallace it was resolved to delete Rule 118, and substitute the following: “Nothing in these rules shall be deemed to prevent any club inserting in its programme a condition : (a) That placed horses in any class may bo nominated for a higher class at the meeting; (b) That horses entered at the meeting may be re-nominated for days of the meeting, provided that such horses have put up a placed performance at the meeting named under such conditions, and after the date on which the nominations have closed, any horses nominated under these conditions shall be deemed to be properly nominated. The nominations or re-nominations, under the above conditions may be made at any time up to half an hour after the finish of the last race on the first, second, or third, or last day of any such meeting.”
The merits of the seconds and yards systems of starting M’orc considered, when a remit advocating the yards system ivas introduced. The remit Mas defeated, the voting being 11 for the yards .system and 15 for the seconds system. The position is that the rule remains as at present- optional. Officers were elected as follows:
President. John Rowe (Auckland); VicePresident D. H. Roberts (GreymonUi); Executive, L. E. Cohen (Wanganui); F. Fox (Christchurch), and J. H. Tinney (Nelson); Treasurer. E. Fox (Christchurch). Afembers of the Executive were constituted the Dales Committee.
WELLINGTON. July 11. The annual conference of the representatives of the nVotting Clubs registered with the Neu - Zealand Association commenced this morning. Air Rou’o (President) presiding. There were about- 35 delegates present. After the President’s address, a motion of regret was passed at the deaths of Messrs Manvers Burton Eduards, C. S. llouell and J. S. Williams.
A motion was passed congratulating Sir George Hunter on the Knighthood hestoM-cd on him.
- The report nncl balance shoot wore adopted. Considerable discussion took place on the question whether the President of the Association and ex-officers should he entitled, to a seat from the Conference. A remit from the New Brighton Club proposed that the rule should he amended to exclude the President of the Association which was trying to force rules on the clubs against their will. I The motion was lost on a show of hands ! Mr P. Selig, on behalf of the As- j socintin, moved the following additional clause to Buie 88—“ Should a Club warn ,< off its course any person considered undesirable, such club shall immediately nelly the Association of the full name, address and occupation of such person, and the date ho was warned off, and thereupon the Association shall notify all the registered clubs of such warning off.”
