| HY TKLKUItAPH—I‘ICII PUKSS ASSOCIATION] COUNTRY RACING CLUBS. WELLINGTON, July 12 At the Country Racing Club’s Conference to-night, the president reported lhat a gratifying measure of success had attended the efforts to have relmndicapping preferred to fixed penalising.
A delegate mentioned a rumour that bis club would bo wiped out. The Conference resolved to lend the power of the Association to protect any affiliated club against such an injustice. It was resolved to protest against the action of the Government for taking totalisaior fractions.
It was decided to oppose a proposal that race course detectives should be appointed by the racing conference. It. was resolved to ask for the carriage of brood mares free one way on the railways.
Officers were elected as follows : President: Mr A. Bruce; vice-Presf-dent: Mr D. J. Evans; North Island Representatives: Hon Alison, Mr IV. Jewell;'South Island Representatives: Messrs .T. TJ. Finney and J. Kennedy.
