Terrible riots have taken place at Aigar They started during the trial of the local secretary of the Indian Non-Co-operation National movement. A mob looted and burned tlie public build- ~j ings and police quarters. Attacks have also been made on the Treasury at Aigar, which was gallantly defended by foul' policemen, who were* armed with obsolete Alartin-Henry rifles , firing buck-shot. They held out all day but the police id fhe townships were beaten everywhere. Five were found killed. It is not known how many others were killed or wounded. The Magistrate there wired to Agra * for military aid, and all available arms. J When reinforcements arrived the mol) sullenly dispersed. A special correspondent wires tfiat part of the city of Aligar resemhles devastated France. British and native troops are picketing the restless mob. Forty persons were arrested. A PERSIAN MOVE. (Received This Day at 8 a.i11.) DELHI, July 12. Forty-one deputies of the Persian [ Afjliss demand the capture and imprij sonment of Sev Ed Traddin late PiV- ! inier. The chief accusation against him is his* Anglophiiism. The most significant signatory is Prince Ferouz, author of the Anglo-Persian Convention The document exhibits a desire to develop Persia without official help from any European power.
