He deposed that it was his opinion that Sister Ligouri left the Wagga convent because of a delusion or of fear. She was .suffering from chronic constipation, oi which complaint delusions form an important, symptom. Mr James Sheeliy, solicitor, practising at Witgga, said that lie advised Bishop Dwyer to bring the matter ol Sister Ligouri’s departure to Sydney, and to see the Inspector-General of Police, as tho latter would have more resources than tile local police. This concluded (lie evidence. Uounsel for the defence, before commencing any address to the jury, asked lhe Jiulge either t.i direct- the jury to find for the defendant or else for his Honour to enter a verdict for the defendant without reference to a jury. He did so on the grounds 6f the application (already cabled). The Judge said be declined to di/cido the matter himself. He decided 1: leave to a jury the question, as already enumerated. Counsel for the defendant then entered upon his address to the jury.
