July 9 An official report from Dublin states r l)e Valera has instructed bis supporters I firstly to cease attacks on Crown forces and civilians: secondly, to prohibit the use of arms; thirdly, to cease military manoeuvres; fourthly, to abstain from interference with public and private property ; fifthly, to discountoriiance'aml prevent action likely to cause a. disturbance of the jreave, which might necessitate military interference. , GOVKRNMENT INSTRITTIOXS. Constable ('onion being killed and two dangerously wounded. , Crown forces killed Thomas Russell r |nagli, for not halting when challenged. IRISH FATALITIES. \ (Received This Day at 10.15 a.m.) ! LONDON, July 10. Four persons were killed in Belfast rioting last night and this evening. Government have closed down recruiting for the Royal Constabulary which has been very brisk since the demobilisation of the Defence forces. The order , also applied to auxiliary police. j BERLIN, July 10. j The paper devotes considerable space to the Irish truce and are unanimous in high praise of Lloyd George’s clever statesmanship. | A CLASH. LONDON, Inly 10. ' During the curfew on Saturday an attack was made on the police >n the Sinn Fein district of West Belfast. Several constables were wounded or killed. When police reinforcements arrived the assailants retreated to houses whence they sniped from the hmis?tops. The trouble was continued on Sunday, when Royalists and Sinn Fein mobs bad a collision. During the afternoon an armoured car got between the contestants and opened lire. A number were killed and wounded including ui unidentified hoy aged thirteen. THE COMING MEETING. LONDON, ' Lily 10. Wednesday will be the probable date of the meeting of Hon. Lloyd George and Do Valera. It is understood that Michael Collins accompanies Do Valera, Air Smuts will probably he deputy chairman. Lloyd George has written to Do Valera- I received your letter of acceptance and will he happy to see you and any colleagues you wish to bring to Downing Street an v day.
