The efforts to improve and brighten the surroundings of Cass Square are deserving the fullest public support. That area is a very fine asset to the town, and as it is such a popular rendezvous for outside games and picnics its care and embellishments should be aways of the first importance. It is difficult to go into any town ol pretensions nowadays without noticing some effort by the local body or citizens to beautily the surroundings. The ideas of town planning have received very practical support in America, and the views shown of modern towns in that ejDarter of the globe with their street and park ornamentation fc disclose that there is no limit to the scope for beautifying work. Here a modest beginning is being made, but in all eases money is required for the work, and t-lq, Beautifying Association lulling created the nucleus of a fund is setting about operations which will leave their mark and lie something to show. \\ itji the approval of the Reserves Committee of the Borough Council inqxntant ivoj-ks are to he carried out on Cass Square and also about Afncamlrew Square, and no doubt within the year these joint efforts of Council and citizens will show their effect and leave their mark.
