Admiral Sims.

HIS RECENT REPRIMAND

VANCOUVER, Juno 25

Friends of Admiral Sims say' that lie has no intention of resigning from the Navy because of anger at the official rebuke administered to him. He is not bothered by it, and does not feel squelched. I[ e is sorry he em-

barrassed tho Administration, but states that he feels the same about Britain and Sinn Fein, despite the reprimand.

Admiral Sims called on President Harding. When he emerged he said, '1 had it coming to me. I spilled the beans, hut really I did not know it was loaded.”

Mr Denby, United States Secretary for the Navy, has publicly reprimanded Admiral Sims. Mr Denby said in his official statement: “The abstract of your remarks furnished to myself since your return confirms the essential points of the Press reports. The Department is mindful of your record of achievement as an officer of the Naiv, but tbo conspicuous position you hold, coupled with the fact that you previoslv offended in a similar manner, merely serves to add gravity to your present offences. “Tho Department deplores the fact that it is necessary to rebuke a flag officer publicly, but yon make such action unavoidable. Th t , Department expresses strong and unqualified disapproval of your conduct in having delivered a highly improper speech in a foreign country, and you are hereby pub--1 iev reprimanded.” Mr Denby added that his reprimand lid not carry any idea of relieving Admiral Sims of the command of the Naval College.
