Bradley Ist (an. xe), and Mr P. Muir the second (a heath knife). The consolation prizes

rerc won by Mrs Bell and Mr .1. Slumion respectively. The floor was then ■leared and dancing commenced to the trains of beautiful music supplied by lr Rutherford, extras being supplied y Miss Kelly of Christchurch. A very ainty supper was then handed round

by the ladeis. During the evening songs were sung by Miss Sherriff, Messrs Curtain, and Wright, whilst Mr Jack Ward fairly brought down the house with a humorous oration. Messrs Bernhard, Adams and McOuigan had charge of the floor and kept things moving merrily. At 2 a.m. Mr W. Bernhard on behalf of the committee thanked everyone who had assisted in making the gathering such a success, especially thanking Mr Rutherford for coming out and supplying such excellent music, the latter remarks drawing forth a storm of applause from the audience. The last dance being over the gathering dispersed, every-

one having enjoyed themselves to the utmost. The committee being so highly pleased with the results, intend to have another one in about a fortnight's time, and given a fine night bope to be greeted with another crowded house.
