SYDNEY, July (5 'flic Springboks defeated the Sydney Metropolitan team to-day by I t to R. The latter displayed the form of the New South Wales team, six of whom are in the Metropolitan fifteen. The visitors scored eleven to nil in the first- half. They hold the upper hand by clever and orthodox play, relieved by occasional flashes of individual brilliancy.
On the visitors’ Sydney form, however. they are unlikely to emerge from their New Zealand tour unconquered.
The Metropolitan team rallied dangerously in the closing stages of the game, imt they were unable to carry their movements to final success, failing at the critical moments. H Morkol scored three tries and G. Morkel kicked two goals (one penalty) for the winners; while for the losers Sheehan and Carr got a try each, Buchanan converting one try.
