(Received This Day at 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, July 6. The Australians began a match wilß Lancashire at Manchester to-day. The County team is: Kenyon, Sharp IBarnes, Hallows, James Tyldesley, Richard Tyldesilejy, Cook, E’llis, Watson, Parkin and Whewell. Notable absentees from the side are Makepeace and E. Tyldesley, both of whom are injured.

The weather was dull and breezy, large attendance and perfect wicket. Arm. Oldfield, Andrews and May no stood out.

Kenyon won the toss and Gregory and McDonald began the bowling to Hallows and Barnes. The County matte a very poor showing. In two hours the whole side was out for 92, thirty-three overs having bowled. Seven wickets were down for 55. Kenyon and Cook then aroused a little excitement by making a short stand, the former hitting Gregory, for nine in one over, four of them run through Pellew think ing the ball would reach the hot mil ary.
