Totalisator Commission.
A PROGNOSTICATION. (SjKH'ial to “Guardian.”) WELLINGTON, This Day. The report of the Totalisator Commission lias been in the hands of the Minister of Internal Affairs since the beginning of last week, but no hint of the nature of its recommendation can be obtained. It had been understood that its contents would be made public before the meeting of the Racing Conference next week, but the Minister seen to-day, stated it would be withheld till tiie meeting of Parliament in accordance with the intention of the Act under which it was constituted. Its earlier publication, the .Minister thought, might lead to a great deal of haggling and deputating. From this perhaps, it may he assumed that the issue of additional permits has been recommended and that they will he allotted, not by the Racing Conference as in the case of other permits but by the Government.
