MONDAY, JULY 4th. The Committee met at 7.30 p.m. ’resent.—Messrs W. H. Shannon, Chairman), Aitken, Stevenson, Richmds, King, Lloyd, Bruce, and Preson (hon sec.) The minutes were confirmed and mtward correspondence approved. INWAR 1) CORRESPONDENCE. From Canterbury Board notifying ac--cptnnce of resignation of Miss Lay* •ock; acknowledging offer of addition af £SO to salary of second assistant. Received. From A Seebeck, asking for leave of absence owing to illness and enclosing doctor’s certificate. —Received. It was resolved to convey the sympathy of the Committee to Mr Seebeck in his illness. From D. J. Evans, asking acceptance of a large framed picture of His Majesty the King, and one of Tipperary. Received and accepted, a letter to be forwarded expressing appreciation of the handsome gift. From Teacher, South Spit reporting average attendance of 16.6 out of roll i f 17; stating attention was required to tiro range, asking for a barrow to be supplied, and asking for removal of drift sand.- Received; to be sent on to Board for attention. From Rector reporting average atctndact, for quarter was primary 282.22 out of roll number of 302; secondary 59.16 and roll number of 63; notifying Mr Seebeck hud been laid aside owing to illness and Miss bavcock had terminated her services. A substitute had been provided for Mr Seebeck, but the absence of a, teacher in Miss haycock s place was causing much inconvenience; suggesting the provision of honors cards for winners of quarterly examinations. --Received and adopted. The Visiting Committee (Mr Lloyd) reported there were no requirements needing attention- Received. s Messrs Preston and Richards were appointed visitors. The Chairman moved that a letter conveying the sympathy of the Committee in his recent bereavement he forwarded to Rev. A. Purehas. Seconded by Mr Aitken and carried in silence. Some accounts were passed for payment and the Committee rose at 7.50 p.m.
