The English Cricket Tost team will he completed to-morrow. Parkin and Harding have been asked to attend for it at Leeds. There is some doubt as to whether Mead will play, owing to an accident yesterday. N<> decision has been reached as regards the wicketkeeper. In view of his Leeds pertormnnce, Hallows, a 'left hander, who was playing bn the Oval to-day lor the Players against the Gentlemen was watched with keen interest, but he was a disappointment, though on a perfect wicket against- bowling that never rose above the mediocre, Hallows took two hours to make 40. A drive to the off was his main scoring stroke. Fie makes no piny with his wrist, hut keeps a stright but, and takes no risks. FI is innings was dull and unenterprising. Pavilion critics are asking why Dipper was, dropped for, Hallows. After his good display at Lords in the Test, Dipper was hailed as a great find. Hearne made 99. Although this occupied 100 minutes, there were glimpses of the real Flcarne. Crawford’s howling was patchy and stingless. Tn direct contrast to Hallow’s was Harding, whose subsequent, invitation to be present at Leeds for the test caused no surprise. Fie went for the bowling, and drove on both sides with great vigour, and timing superbly. Harding lias been one of the most consist scorers this season. Last week end ho was fifth in the averages for England and Australia combined with 20 innings and an average of 57.41. The Players made 127 for four wickets. Ducat scored 80, and Hnrdingc llli (not. out). TEST TEAM. (Received This Day at 9.40 a.m.) LONDON, July 1. Brown, (wicket-keeper), and Ducat have heen invited to play in the test match at Leeds. Mead does not play. THE TEST CAPTAIN. Hlecoivcd This Day at 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, June 30. The Daily Chronicle says in view of th 0 ill-advised attempt to suggest dissension between Tennyson and Douglas the public should know that Douglas was the first to send congratulations and assure Tennyson of his own untir- . ing support. j Fry’s finger is till in splints.
