This means Parkin must choose between the Players or break his agreement with Bochdale. Douglas took four wiekets for 35 against Sussex, his second century match. Conflicting reports are current regarding whether Dougins will play at Leeds. He has refused to tell an interviewer whether lie will play. AGAINST WARAVICKSHIRIf. (Received This Dav at 10.13 a.m.) LONDON, June 29. Th 0 Australians began a match at Birmingham to-day against Warwickshire. The original intention was to make it a Midland Counties team and as near an England eleven as possible, hut this was abandoned. The country team isCalthorpe, Bates, Chnrlesthorpo, Qunife, Santall, Rotherham, Scorer, AVaddy (well-known New South Wales batsman, now master at Rugby), Partridge, Nelson and Smith. There was glorious hot weather, and the wicket was perfect. Calthorpe won the toss and went in. Collins, Macartney, Gregory and McDonald were omitted from the visitors’ side. The attendance numbered ten thousand. Hendry and Armstrong were the first bowlers. The firstwicket fell at 19. but 30 were put on by Bates and C’lmrlesworth for the next. Mailey and Ryder took up the bowling and the latter got Bates caught at short slip. Charlesworth quickly followed, caught at leg on by Taylor, at the second attempt. Quaife and AVaddy made a nice stand taking the score from 77 to 130. Eighty-one were scored in the first hour’s play.* AVaddy hit eleven, including two fours olf Maiiev’s fifth opt, Mailey was howling a proportion' |of full tosses. Quaife pulled olio, ot them outside the off stump. Taylor at long on lost sight of the hall and ran in ihe opposite direction. AA’addy showed an attractive facility on the onside and ran fast between tlie wickets. The partnership put on fifty under three-quarters of an hour. Just before lunch interval, every hall in one over of Mailey’s was scored from, thirteen iif all. Quaife was eventually caugh at slip, left hand, low down, having been in two hours. Six runs later AVaddy Vtis stumped'off Armstrong. He had only been in 63 minutes and was warmly applauded, the fieldsmen join- i ing in. !
