The “Daily Telegraph’s” (Unionist) Dublin representatives states: “The only certainty regarding Mr de Valera reply is that it will not be a direct acceptance of the proposed conference. The Irish Republicans may attempt to parley. They may announce their readiness to meet Mr Lloyd George while at the same time protesting against his implied denial of their right to speak for all Ireland, or to ask for some indication of his offer. The Irish Republicans regard the acceptance of Lloyd George’s invitation in the terms in which it is at present couched, as being a surrender of their case. This is expected to he a stumbling block to an immediate conference. It is believed the British Government are willing to suspend their military action in Ireland if the Sinn Fein leaders guarantee to restrain their activities. Yet, Mr de Valera demands the withdrawal of the Government forces from South,

Regimental meeting I was proceeding at an inn in Waterfall, Crown forces raided the premises. Tin rebels stampeded bnt forty-five wen arrested. Walter Leo Murphy a. rebel Brigadier, was shot dead while trying to escape. Murphy was wanted for the murder of an officer of the Manchester and for kidnapping three officers who have not been heard of since; also a A.T.C. sergeant and civilians. Three girls aro being tried by courtmartial at Cork for the attempted'murder of officers and soldiers on the twenty-third. Evidence was given that the girls were seen leaving the place where a lorry was blown up by an electrically exploded mine.
