The next sittings of the .Magistrate’s and Warden’s Courts at Hokitika is set down for Thursday of next week, July 7th. Saturday's “Dominion” says—The fact that there was no criminal business set down for hearing at the Supieme Conn session at Hokitika, as indicated in a Press Association ’ tele-
gram, has prompted the chairman of 1 ’ t West Coasters’ Association (Mr J. ,1. M'Grath) to send a telegram to the Mayor of Hokitika stating that the association rejoices in the absence of
crime on the Coast, and tenders its congratulations to the Coast on there being no criminal business for the Supreme Court session.

There are now 17/2 names on toe hooks of the Hostel. Another old Westport resident, Mrs A. Shilton, aged 88, died on Monday. Site had lived 55 years in New Zealand and 35 at Westport. Messrs A. and W. Shilton are sons of deceased.

In connection with the prospecting track: now being opened up the Upper Wataroa river, beyond the confluence of the Perth River tributary, a party working in that locality lately discovered several hot springs. The distance from the main south road is about nine miles, and there is said to be a good
and regular supply of the spring water. It is the intention of the party to make further explorations in that locality, and the waters are to bo sampled and sent away for analysis to ascertain what curative powers they possess.
