Hi suggested Mr Evans might prepare a

lecture on the subject. Mr "Evans sniu while he could not give a lecture as proposed he would he happy to prepare a paper on the subject as suggested and would call to his aid a well-known authority in Canterbury who was familiar with the early history of the country and so collate interesting material about the men of the times in whose honor and memory the streets of Hokitika had been named. This course \v ns approved. Mr Trvine said strangers coming into the town and casual visitors would find it a great boon if the principal streets wore labelled with their names at the more prominent corners.
