PRINCE'S TOUR.
AUSTRALIAN REFLECTIONS. , LONDON, June 18. ‘These well-nourished, well-dressed quick-witted, outspoken, hospitable kindiv Melbourne people.” “These well-groomed gentlemen, opu-lently-dressed women, and smart Iv-turned-out children ol Sydney.’ These sentences are from Mr Everad Cotes’s book, ‘Down Under with the Pr.LncD-” 1 They indicate the impressions made on his mind during the visit of the Prince to Australia. The book is a faithful recital of the Prince of Wales’s doings and savings, and u illustrated with 23 photographs. Mr Cotes pays a tribute to the cordiality of the reception and says tlmi the Labour leaders greeted the Princes: of Waleft in a friendly wav. am showed a personal interest more tluu anything deeper. Vet it is a matte for wonder, in a community with sue divergent political ideals and conflict ing social conditions, that the demur strations of all sections were so warn heartedly loyal.” Mr Cotes relates many stories ol tl tour, saying that some politicians’ on spoken frankness and caustic humoi never failed to interest and amuse tl Prince. t He adds that the circumstances ju ’ tifying Ihe building of Canberra a essentially similar to those in the huil ing of Ottawa and Washington. I mentions the Prince adding a found tion stone to the already cons.dornl number of these expressions of fai and hope. By far the most picturesque ena tors are devoted to the outback trip.
