A case of suicide occurred at the Sunnyside Mental Hospital on Friday afternoon, an inmate named Walter Hracewcll being found hanging in a lavatory, adjoining his ward. The deceased was committed to the Avondale Mental Hospital in 1904, following on a charge of attempted murder. He was tried at Auckland Supreme Court in February, 1904, and was found insane and ordered to lie detained during the pleasure of the Colonial Secretary. He was in the Porirua institution for some years, but was transferred to Sunnyside in 191.6, and remained in that institution until his death.
