Imperial Conference.
CONFERENCE R EGRETS. AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. (Received This Day at 12.25 p.m.) LONDON, June 27. Messrs Hughes and Massey are already fretting at the Conference delays .and voiced disappointment at the lack of progress on the resumption on Monday, as time is limited by Mr Meighens determination to return to Canada before August, and General Smuts anxiety to hasten home. A fear is expressed that so much of the Conference is wasted over preliminaries, that detailed discussion of essentials will he cramped. Pecifio defence, which is considered of the first importance by the Australasian delegates, may he put in the background unless Mr Hughes's persistence restores it to light. The discussion thus far has shown Mr Hughes challenged Air Aleighan on the AVashington Ambassador question early, and now strongly criticised his marked bias towards United States.
