LOWER WAGES , 01'GET. ADELAIDE, June 26. Tiie York Peninsula miners and smelters have filed an application with the Industrial Registrar, asking for a variation in the industrial agreement lretween the Wallaroo, and Moon Companies and the Australian Workers’ Union. This action is the outcome of a movement led by Mr Verran, the ex-premier for the repudiation of the Australian Workers Union, in order that the men may resume work at rates of pay helmv those declared as the living wage. Many hundreds are idle on the Peninsula owing to the cessation of operations by the Wallaroo, and Moon Company, and considerable distress is prevailing.
