NURSING HOME BURNT. CAMBRIDGE, June 24 A fire occurred at Hamilton road, Cambridge. It was discovered about 5.30 in the morning. Nurse Russell’s private nursing home, a large old building, was totally destroyed. The fire had a firm hold when discovered. There were ten patients in the house suffering from various illnesses and accident cases. All were got out safely in their night attire. When the Brigade arrived the building was practically demolished. Insurance was only £3OO on the building. Nurse Russell is a heavy loser and tho patients lost all their belongings. TONGA’S PREMIER. AUCKLAND, June 23. Hon. Tuiwakana, Premier of Tonga and his wife are passengers for Sydney by the Makura, on a trip to recruit bis health. Ho is emphatic of Tonga’s desire to remain as at present and no desire to join the Federation of Western Pacific Islands. He returns via Auckland in tho spring. !
