U.S. STEEL CUTS. NEW YORK, April 12. Ono of the most important events in the industrial world of the United Staes fo r some time past is the announcement to-day by the United .States’ Steel Corporation of a reduction in prices, averaging 12 per cent, for all products except steel rails and tubular and sheet steel. Reductions on the latter are expected later. , Tt is considered that general trade depression coupled with the buyers’ strike has forced tip, corporation to take steps to stimulate demand. An instance of the buyers’ strike is the suspension of work on the now wharves of the Cunard Line, in New York, which Sir Ashley Sparks, the manager of the line in the United States,‘states is due to the high price of building materials. It is expected that the reduction of prices will ho followed shortly by tt reduction of wage* throughout the steel industry,
