SMALLFIELD INQUEST CONCLUDED. [by TELEORAPn —PER PRESS ASSOCIATION’] HAMILTON, June 17. The Smallfield inquest was resinned. Dr Waddell said lie was present at the second exhumation of the body at Ngaruawaliia on Tuesday. He bad examined the mouth, and gave details of the teeth missing. Witness thought the appendix had been removed. Ho found no trace present. He produced the calcium, to which the appendix should be attached to Gillies body, in an advanced state of decomposition. Only with considerable difficulty was the calcium recognised. To tlie Coroner. —The second left lower premolar was missing. This bore out the testimony of Dr Pinfold on which lie was severely cross-examined bv the Coroner at last hearing. It was not shown as missing on tho chart. Wardell continuing, said he could not snv whether the scar on the calcium was because it was decayed. There was a considerable hole in the calcium where the appendix would have been, if it had decayed off.

Waddell’s evidence continued.—The ring taken from the coffin bore the inscription “Conquest of Jerusalem.”

William John Limner, a brother-in-law of deceased, said lie presented the ring to Smallfield some time ago. Buskin 11. Cramvell, a dentist, said he was present at the re-exhumation. He examined the body and found it was Smallfield’s. On examination of the mouth he recognised his own work. The model produced coincided exactly with .the charts taken from his sur-

gery. The Coroner adjourned the inquest till to-morrow morning, for consideration anil said be would give bis. decision then.
