INTEREST QUICKENING. AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. (Received this day at 8 a.m.) LONDON June 17 Interest in the Imperial Canferpnee is quickening at the Savoy an<) Cecil Hotels where the delegations Keep to themselves. The leaders are carfefljlto say nothing likely to betray plans, without suggesting intrigue, there is reason to believe this apparent isolation is not so real in private. It is known that certain feelers have been put out and in one case at least, messages exchanged by devious ways. One group is openly opposed to a Wbite Australia and another would block discussion on naval defence in the Pacific if it could, while a third cannot understand the Australian view in regard to a renewal of the Anglo-Japanese
Treaty. . However, these preliminary slar- - -Hushes in the dark are not regarded as indicating any settled policy or unofficial agreements and in conference each Premier will depend upon force of argument, rather than upon finesse to win his case.
