District Racing Committee

The above Committee sat at Greymouth on Friday evening. Present: Messrs T. E. Ooates (Chairman), John Walton, W. R. Kettle, W. B. Gilbert and D. J. Evans.

Applications were received from Olcari'to, Wataroa, afcul Inter-Wanganui Racing Clubs applying for registration under the Rules of Racing by the N.Z. Raring Conference.- Received; It was resolved to recommend same for ap proval to the Racing Conference. Arising out of the foregoing, it was resolved, also to recommend the removal of the disqualification imposed recently upon all persons and horses which took part in the late unregistered meeting in South Westland. The Westland Racing Club applied to the District Trust Fund for a grant of £ls for ambulance purposes at Hokitika racecourse, and £lO as a donation to a motor ambulance for the district, which would be available for use at ra.ee meetings.—Received; and votes

granted. - The Grevmouth Jockey Club applied for a grant of £2-5 for renovating the ambulance quarters at the Greymoutn racecourse.—Received and granted. It was stated the District Trust Fund was now in credit to the amount of about £2OO. The question of dates for the southern racing Clubs was brought up. It was stated that Okarito held its bn - mini meeting on Boxing Day, and the Wataron and Inter Wanganui Clubs in the week previous to Easter. In reniy to a question, Mr Evans stated the Westland Racing Club would not object to the Okarito meeting being continued on Boxing Day if the Club so desired—that being its old established date. Correspondence in relation to a d -- putc between two horse-owners wh'.ci took place at Reef ton during the autumn meeting, was read and acti >n deferred, pending a reply from a jockey and others connected with the alleged cause of the dispute. The notices of motion for the for'ncoming Racing Conference were briefly discussed and the meeting concluded.
