A MOTOR FATALITY. INVERCARGILL, June 13
While crossing a street on Saturday afternoon, James Walker, aged (54, was knocked down by a motor car, sustaining bead injury. He died eight hours later. Deceased was a prominent Oddfellow, Mason and bowler.
AN AIR SMASH. HASTINGS, June 13. Lieutenant Le Tatton, when making ■i trial for a local flight in an Avro machine yesterday, could not attain an altitude owing to atmospheric conditions. In returning to the landing place the machine nose dived about 100 feet and crashed to the ground. Tatton was cut out of the wreckage in a semiconscious condition and motored to the hospital where it was found he had sustained a double fracture of the left arm, together with considerable bruises and shock. It was a wonderful escape, as there are no internal injuries. He is making a good recovery. He thought the accident; was due to engine trouble.
RAILWAY CADET ASSAULTED
AUCKLAND, June 13. Ellis Cecil Bowles, a railway cadet, was knocked down in a shed at Tun kali on Saturday night by a man who suddenly sprang upon him and administered two kicks, which rendered Bowles unconscious. On recovery bo found himself in the scrub where evidently he had been dragged by bis assailant. Bowles had been struck on the neck, hut was not very severely injured. The police traced footprints two miles and lost track of them in the grass. Tt is presumed the motive of the assailant was to obtain the keys of the railway station.
A SAD END. WELLINGTON, June 13 The search for Miss Lindsay, Matron of Grcytown Hospital, ended yesterday, her body being found not far from the railway station at Woodside. The body was found hanging from a tree, tie cord of her dressing gown, which Miss Lindsay was wearing when she disappeared, having been used for the purpose. A SUDDEN DEATH. June 13 Advice received from Christchurch states B. M.* Molyneaux, Inspector of the Bank of Now South Wales, dropped dead last night. OBITUARY. CHRISTCHURCH, June 13 Obituary.— B. M. Molyneaux, Inspector of the Bank of New South Wales, while seeing his daughter oil by train last night, collapsed and died before medical aid was secured, lie was aged (if), lie joined the staff in Sydney m 1S(58 and came to the Dominion in 1891 as Manager of the Wellington branch.
