The first local wool salo since llio recent resumption, and the tilth sale of the season, was held to-day, when 8000 bales were offered. There was a spiritckl sale and practically seven-eighths of the catalogue was disposed. In the case of three-quarter bred and cross-bred there was an advance on local February rates, and a distinct advance on recent northern auctions. Good half-bred averaged practically the same as February sales, but seedy and dingy was a penny lower. Three-quarter bred was about a penny lighter, and cross-bred was a penny half-penny better than recent northern auctions. Scoured wool was not wanted. Pieces dropped in pvieo on last Christchurch sale.
