A correspondent in the “Herald” urges if the departure of mail steamers for New Zealand could be delayed a few hours, it would be a great advantage to business people. He points out that under the present arrangements mails for steamers departing on Thursday forenoon close at five on Wednesday, seventeen hours before the hour of departure, while in other States mails close a day .earlier on account of the steamer beng timed to leave before the arrival of the Melbourne and Brisbane expresses.
SPRINGBOK’S TOUR. SYDNEY, June 10. Mr Palmer, secretary to the Rugby Union has tentatively arranged a match for the Springboks at Melbourne on the 18th. He is communicating with the Aeneas for approval. CYCLING VISITORS. (Received this day at 11.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, June 10. E. S. Marks, secretary of the Athletic Union of Australia, and New Zealand has written to South Africa to the effect that the proposed visit of cyclists would be acceptable to New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland, but not to South Australia or New Zealand, on account of there being no suitable tracks. It is stated tj)e athletes will be received in Australia at the end of the year at the time of the Australian championships in New Zealand from the middle of January to the middle of February. PROPOSED AMERICAN VISIT. (Received this day at 11.25 a.m.) SYDNEY, June 10. W. J. Maloney, vice President of Californian Rugby Union proposing a visit of an all American Rugby team in 1922, including Kirksey Paddock, the world’s champion sprinter; Templeton, hurdler; Hanner, javelin thrower; Norton, 440 hurdler; Muller, high-jumper champion. Hill has referred the matter to 'the Rugby Uplon and Athletic Association,
