The first climbing accident o: the season occurred at the Langglet.se.ic. (Linns Glacier), near Goppjinteiu (4,035 feet above sea level). Several tourists were attempting, to cross a large crevasse uncorded, when one, Oscar Stocker, fell. A guide named Bachmann lowered a lantern into the crevasse, hut was unable to touch bottom.

lapse. On Sunday, in the region of OberaarJocli (Bernese Oberland) a party belonging to the Murren Ski Club was crossing a snow bridge when it gave way, precipitating Fritz von Allmen, son of the proprietor ot the Hotel Eiger Murren, into the crevasse. His body was recovered.
