IN THE COMMONS. LONDON, June 2. In the House of Commons, Ge-crnl Seeley moved the adjournment in order to propose a motion against the Government’s policy of destroying people’s houses in Ireland as reprisals; Several other members spoke and ’said the Crown reprisals were driving the Government’s friends Into the arms of Sinn Fein and were causing intense bitterness. Mr Clynes appealed to the Government) to reverse tli e policy. It was fatal and wicked, he said, to inflict punishment on innocent people. / Sir Hamar Greenwood replied for the Government. Ho said the reprisals were only carried out on strictly military grounds. Greenwood declared he was prepared to discuss with Hie British Commander in Chief whether the reprisals were successful. The adjournment was negatived without a division.
HON W. F. MASSEY. (Received This Day ftt 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 2 Hon AV. F. Massey had a long interview with Lord Inverforth on wool profits. This will be followed by conferences with other officials. He also had a lengthy private talk with Lord Milner on Imperial Conference matters. He is dining with Hon Lloyd George tonight. It has been necessary to decline many invitations to attend pu me and social functions in various parts ot the Kingdom, which are unprecedently numerous. Sir Robert Stout, is in good health, living quietly in London.
