o'clock to-morrow afternoon. The occasion is to be made an important and impressive ceremonial, and no doubt will be witnessed by a large gathering oi tne school folk, as well as parents and guardians and others interested in tue welfare oi the local school which has for so long filled an important and useful part in the life of the town and district.

The band and the cadets are assisting and will fall in at the Town Hall, and march to the school grounds, via Revell Stafford, Hall and Hampden Streets. The Masonic fraternity which is to conduct the main ceremony in connection with the laying of the foundation stone will form a separate procession, and will march from the Revell Street south lodge room to the school grounds. The Hon. Minister of Mines, Hon. J. Grimmond Af.L.G and Mr Seddon M.P. will attend and participate in the proceedings, as also the heads of the local bodies including the Mayor (Mr Perry) and the County Chairman (Mr Ward). Mr W. H. Shannon, Chairman of the Hokitika School Committee and of the War Memorial Committee will preside at the school grounds where pnor to the stone function the pupils will salute the Flag, and slmrr addresses will be

<riven. For the .Masonic- ceremony the opening ode will be “0 God Our Help. This will be followed by scripture reading and a prayer by Bro. Revd. Archdeacon Carr. The foundation stone will then he laid by Rt. W. P. G. M. Bros. Steer and AVarnes, assisted by Rt. W. Bros. Richmond and Cochrane. During this very interesting ceremony, there will be sprinkled the corn of nourishment the wine of refreshment, nnci the oil of joy. This portion will conclude with the singing of the anthem “Peace Perfect Peace.” Next will follow the occasional oration by Rt. W. P. D. G. M. Bro. Hon. H. L.’Michel, M.L.C. and thereafter a collection will be taken up..

The public speakers will theji be in introduced by the Mayor of Hokitika, and short addresses will be delivered by Hon. G. J. Anderson, Hon. J. Grimn>ond (Canterbury Education Board), Mr Seddon, M.P., and Mr B. Ward County Chairman. • Before the close of the proceedings the band will play the selection “Garland of Flowers” in memory of the fallen, and the closing hymn will be “Abide with Me.A The singing of the National Anthem will conclude the ceremony.

The pupils are to he massed in a good position where they can see the full proceedings and the pallets will form the guard of honor. Subsequent to the c ere m°ny the school teachers and wives of the committeemen will entertain the visitors, at afternoon tea in the Technical school room. A special train will run from Greymouth to-morrow forenoon for the convenience of the^ visiting freemasons, and the out train to Ross in the afternoon will be delayed till 4.25.
