LONDON, May 26. The latest Ulster returns show that Sir Janies Craig had a big lead in County, Down, but Mr de Valora’s return for Down is now assured. REPRISAL POLICY. LONDON, May 27. The ‘-‘Times” Dublin correspondent says:—A counter reprisal for certain military reprisals, a number of houses of prominent unionists in Cork have been burned and a destruction of bridges on roads continues. Safe district main roads towards Poughal were blocked by felled trees and telegraph poles. MR GRATTAN ESMOMDE. VANCOUVER, May 27. Mr Grattan Esmonde, who was charged with seditious utterances is to he retried to-day. The jury disagreed a few days ago at his first trial For eight seats in County Down, Sir R. Craig 29,829, de Valera 16,269 and Andrews (Unionist) 1.2,584, were elected on the first count.
